  • What is the race course like?
    The Slacker is the world's highest half marathon, and starts at the base of Loveland Ski Area, at an elevation of 10,880ft, and descends to 8,500ft, for post-race party in historic Georgetown. The course includes a combination of dirt and paved roads, leading participants through beautiful wetlands, natural waterfalls, stunning views of the Continental Divide, and historic mining remnants! While it is mainly downhill, there are rolling sections as well.
  • What are the Slacker Race registration fees?

  • What if I can't attend Slacker anymore?
    We understand that circumstances may change, and we want to provide clarity on our policies to ensure a fair and flexible experience for all participants. Please take note of the following refund and deferral guidelines: Race Alterations or Cancellation: We aim to hold the race, but in extreme weather or other unforeseen emergencies we may alter the course, shorten the event, or cancel it. In the event of cancellation, all in-person entrants will be moved into the virtual category for their chosen distance Refunds/Deferrals Due to race growth, we are unable to offer refunds in 2025, but entries may be deferred or transferred. Entry Transfers: Entries may be transferred or deferred up until June 24, 2025. Our goal is to provide a fair and accommodating experience for all participants.   • Can I transfer to another distance?
    Yes! You can transfer via your runsignup account until June 24. Requests made after this timeframe, are not guaranteed to be timed in the correct distance (but we will make all effort to do so!)
  • Relay Questions—(3-person relay)
    3 PLAYER SLACKER RELAY · Relay participant #1: Begins at Loveland Ski Area. (Exit #216 off I-70) (5.8 miles) · Relay participant #2: Begins at Bakerville. (Exit #221 off I-70) (3.0 miles) · Relay participant #3: Begins at the 4-mile start—just west of Silver Plume. (Exit #226 off I-70) (4.3 miles) · Shuttles deliver relay folks to their start lines. You can be dropped off but DON’T FORGET to pick up your bibs at Loveland Ski Area VALLEY location. · Shuttles frequently circle to pick up relay runners after they complete their portion and bring them to the Finish Line.
  • What airport should I fly into?
    We welcome Slackers from across the Country! For those of you flying, we recommend flying into Denver International Airport (DIA), which is about an hour drive from Georgetown. Please note there is limited public transportation available to Georgetown, and Uber/Lyft does not generally service the area.
  • What is the elevation of the course?
    The course starts at 10,880ft, and descends to 8,500ft.

  • Where can I stay?

  • Bus Schedules
    EVERYONE PARKS AT LOVELAND SKI AREA FOR ALL RACES. We will have shuttles at the east parking lot at Loveland to take people to 2nd, 3rd-person relay start points and the 4-mile races. We will also have a shuttle to run people back and forth between Loveland BASIN and VALLEY. Once you cross the finish line, we have buses to take you back to the parking lots at Loveland Ski Area. They will run loops between City Park Georgetown and Loveland between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The last bus to the parking area leaves at 1:00 p.m. Relay shuttle vans will be circling the 2 relay transfer points looking for runners to take to the finish line.
  • Tuck in Your Dollars!
    We have lots of freebies hosted by local nonprofits at the Finish Line so tuck a couple dollars in those running shorts!
  • T-shirts
    T-shirts are handed out in the goodie bags at the finish line. Fruit, hotdogs, crackers, Pepsi, and Tommyknocker Beer are given away free at the finish line.
  • Course Description
    The half marathon course begins on a dirt road and then paved path with rolling terrain for the first 5.8 miles. This portion of the course is very shady with gorgeous runoff waterfalls. The second portion of the course is paved frontage road with wonderful views of the Continental Divide. This portion of the course is very sunny. It begins with a slight uphill (0.5 miles), followed by a gradual downhill to Silver Plume. The final portion of the course is part paved bike path, part paved road, and part dirt road. It is a strong descent for 2.3 miles and then is flat to the finish line. This portion of the course is part sunny and part shady.

  • Lost & Found/Information Booth
    The Lost & Found/Information Booth will be at the park at the finish line if you need/lose anything

  • What is packet pickup?
    Packet pickup is when you will pick up your bib (which has your timing chip on it). Shirts and medals are available after you cross the finish line, SLACKER!
  • When and where is packet pickup?
    Pick up your packet early to simplify your race day! Advance packet pickup is available as follows: - Wednesday, June 25 from 12pm - 6:30pm at Runners Roost (7978 W Alameda Ave, Lakewood) - Friday, June 27 from 3pm - 7pm at Cabin Creek Brewery in Georgetown (22nd & Argentine St.) Race day packet pick up as follows:- 4 Mile Runners are to pick up their packet at Loveland Ski Area VALLEY- Relay Runner PLAYER ONE + Half Marathon Runners are to pick up their packet at Loveland Ski Area BASIN
  • What do I need to bring for packet pickup and can I pick up bibs for my friends/family?
    Your smiling face! And, a good memory of all the names and which races each person is doing in order to pick up bibs for you and your posse! (Easy access to your race registration email would be helpful just in case!)
  • What is the date of the 2025 Slacker?
    The Slacker Races are always the 4th Saturday in June, and will be held on June 28 in 2025.
  • How do I register?
    Registration is available online (https://runsignup.com/Race/CO/Georgetown/SlackerRaces), as well as in person at the following locations: - Wednesday, June 25 from 12pm - 6:30pm at Runners Roost (7978 W Alameda Ave, Lakewood) - Friday, June 27 from 3pm - 7pm at Cabin Creek Brewery in Georgetown (22nd & Argentine St.) No race day registration!
  • Where should I park?
    All parking for participants will be at Loveland Ski Area. There are 100 VIP parking for purchase in Georgetown. VIP parking will have a shuttle directly from the lot to the start of the race.   • How do I get to the start line?
    Start Lines The Start Line for the half marathon is at the Loveland Ski Area B BASIN Location. The Start Line for the 4-Mile is just west of Silver Plume. The second portion of the relay starts at the Bakerville Exit off I-70. The third portion of the relay starts at the 4-Mile Start. Half-Marathon/Relay Player 1 participants parked at Loveland Ski Area Basin are able to walk directly to the start line. Half-Marathon/Relay Player 1 participants parked at Loveland Ski Area Valley are able to walk directly to the start line (1/2 mile) or take a shuttle. 4-Mile or Relay 2 & 3 Players will be shuttled to their respective start lines (THERE IS NO PARKING AT THE 4-MILE OR RELAY 2 & 3 START LINES) We are increasing parking and shuttles services for the 2025 races. VIP parking will be shuttled from the lot to the start of the race.
  • Will there be a clothing drop at each start line?
    Clothing drop boxes will be at all start lines! It is cool at the start so feel free to bring a jacket, and we will bring it to the Finish Line for you! Please do not drop your clothes along the race course and expect to find them at the finish. You MUST drop your clothes at the START lines or they will be donated to our Clear Creek Victims Advocates.
  • Will there be toilets on the course?
    There are lots of restrooms at each start line! Two restrooms at Mile 1, Five restrooms at Mile 5, two at Mile 7, eight at Mile 9, 1 at the Scenic Overlook, 7 at the bus loading station, and LOTS at the finish line! Toilets are available along the race course at the following locations: Half Marathon Start Line- Loveland Basin Mile 1, Loveland Valley Mile 5.5, Bakerville Mile 7, Cone Zone Mile 9 & the 4 Mile start line Mile 11 Finish Line at City Park
  • Are there any course time limits?
    Nope! With a name like Slacker, we know this is a great event for those who want to try the half-marathon distance for the first time! There is no strict time limit on the course, and water stations stay open until the last racer crosses the finish line! (usually by 1:30 p.m.) Throughout the course, there are volunteers on bikes with cell phones, plus volunteers at the water stations with cell phones, so if you need ANYTHING—ask for help! Even if you need a ride down, we can help! At Slacker Races, we celebrate every participant, no matter their pace or experience level. Join us for a memorable event where the emphasis is on the journey, the experience, and the joy of accomplishing something incredible. Lace-up, step out of your comfort zone, and become a Slacker on June 28, 2025!
  • Will you have Pace Groups?
    Yes! Beast Pacing will be joining us again for the 2025 Slacker Half-Marathon.
  • Will you have water/aid stations on the course?
    Water Stations Water stations are at each start line and at miles 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, and the finish line. Gatorade Stations: Gatorade stations are at miles 6, 8, 11, and 12. Water and Tailwind Electrolytes are available at the following mile markers: Mile Marker Water Tailwind Electrolyte
  • Will you have cups at your water/aid stations?
    Yes, BUT we are highly encouraging all walkers and runners alike to help us reduce waste at our events. Water stations are at each start line and at miles 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, and the finish line.
  • Race Start Times
    All races start at 7:30 a.m. (half marathon first wave & first-leg-relay & 4-Mile) Second wave of half marathon starts at 7:40 a.m. etc.
  • Clothing
    All clothing discarded at the start lines will be brought to the finish line for retrieval. If you forget your clothes, email Evan after the race and he will hold it for you: evan@ccmrd.com .
  • Where is the Actual Finish Line? City Park- Georgetown.
    · After exiting I-70, at the roundabout stop, turn RIGHT onto Argentine Street, At ¼ mile down this road, you will see a little shop on the left called MOUNTAIN BUZZ PIZZERIA. There is a dirt lot next door and across the street. (DO NOT BLOCK the electric-vehicles stations.) Park here and walk over the bridge at 11th and Argentine Streets. You will see City Park after you cross the creek just to your right on Rose Street.
  • Actual Half Marathon Start Line
    Exit 216 off I-70 (Loveland Ski Area/US Hwy 6). At stop sign, go right to Loveland BASIN Parking Lot--west. You can drop your runners off here but don’t forget to pick up your bib at Loveland Ski Area –VALLEY location Exit 216 off the I-70.
  • Do you allow participants to walk in the race?
    Yes! We have many participants who return year after year to walk the course! ​There is no strict time limit on the course, and water stations stay open until the last racer crosses the finish line!   • Can I wear headphones, phones, ipods, etc?
    Yes! Just please be aware of your surroundings at all times.
  • Do you allow dogs and/or strollers on the course?
    Yep! Dogs must be friendly, well behaved, and leashed AT ALL TIMES though. Please note as well, that dogs are NOT allowed on our school bus shuttles, but may be on our 15 passenger van shuttles. There are doggie pools at several of our water/aid stations, as well as access to the creek at several points along the course. Strollers are also allowed, and are able to be transported on our school bus shuttles.
  • Injuries
    If you are injured on the course, we have 20+ cyclists with cell phones to get you medical attention. Ambulances are located at 3 different areas along the course and can respond to you wherever your emergency. If you lose a friend on the course to an emergency, they will be taken to the finish line EMT tent.
  • Where can my family watch me run?
    Exit 221 off I-70—Bakerville This is where the Forest Service trail joins the frontage road. Great photo spot! Exit 226 off I-70—Silver Plume Watch your runner coming down the Frontage Road into historic Silver Plume. Exit 228 off I-70– Georgetown Watch your runner cross the Finish Line a Georgetown at City Park in Georgetown!
  • What can I expect at the Finish Line?
    The FINISH LINE for 2025 will be located at City park. Participants will have access to post race food, hydration stations, and be able to pick up their long sleeved tech shirt, medal, and swag bag upon crossing the line.
  • What happens at the Post Race party?
    We're thrilled to share the exciting news that we've relocated the finish line and post-race party to City Park in Georgetown! With an expanded size, ample shade, grassy areas, and a family-friendly atmosphere, we can't wait to welcome you to our new site as you cross the finish line in 2024!
