What is the date of the 2024 Slacker?The Slacker Races are always the 4th Saturday in June, and will be held on June 22 in 2024.

What is the race course like?The Slacker is the world's highest half marathon, and starts at the base of Loveland Ski Area, at an elevation of 10,630ft, and descends to 8,400ft, for post race festivities in historic Georgetown. The course includes a combination of dirt and paved roads, leading participants through beautiful wetlands, natural waterfalls, stunning views of the Continental Divide, and historic mining remnants! While it is mainly downhill, there are rolling sections as well.

How do I register?Registration is available online, as well as in person at Runners Roost, Lakewood (Date & Time TBA), Strousse Park, Georgetown (Friday 6/21/2024), and on Race Day at Loveland Ski Area. Register early to avoid price increases that take place throughout the year!

What if I can't attend Slacker anymore?We understand that circumstances may change, and we want to provide clarity on our policies to ensure a fair and flexible experience for all participants. Please take note of the following refund and deferral guidelines: Race Alterations or Cancellation: We aim to hold the race, but in extreme weather or due to changes in COVID restrictions, we may alter the course, shorten the event, or cancel it. In the event of cancellation, all in-person entrants will be moved into the virtual category for their chosen distance. Deferral Options: Participants may defer their entry to the 2025 Slacker Races until May 16, 2024. Deferrals requested by March 1 will receive a 100% credit of the amount paid in 2024 towards Slacker 2025. Deferrals requested between March 1 - April 30 will receive a 75% credit of the amount paid towards Slacker 2025. Deferrals requested between May 1-15 will receive a 50% credit of the amount paid towards Slacker 2025. Credits are valid on any distance. If the full amount of the credit is not used, no refunds will be given on any remaining balance. Participants are NOT automatically enrolled in Slacker 2025, and will need to register using their deferral credit when registration opens (credit will show in runsignup account on 1.1.2025) Credits are ONLY valid for Slacker 2025, and will expire on June 28, 2025 Refunds: Refunds will not be issued for any reason. Entry Transfers: Entries may be transferred up until June 16, 2024. A $5 transfer fee will be applied for entry transfers. Our goal is to provide a fair and accommodating experience for all participants. Can I transfer to another distance?Yes! You can transfer via your runsignup account until June 16. Requests made after this timeframe, are not guaranteed to be timed in the correct distance (but we will make all effort to do so!)

How does the 3 Player Relay work?3 PLAYER SLACKER RELAY Shuttle service provided for all players, to the start line, and pick up when runners finish their potion to be transported to the Finish Line (in Georgetown). Day off bib pickup is only at Loveland Ski Area (Valley). Player 1 Begins at Loveland Ski Area. (Exit #216 off I-70) Start Time 8am Approx. 5.8 miles — rolling. Player 2 Begins at Bakerville. (Exit #221 off I-70) Approx. 3 miles — slight uphill at start and then downhill. Player 3 Begins at the 4-mile start — just west of Silver Plume. (Exit #226 off I-70) Approx. 4 miles strong downhill to flat.

What airport should I fly into?We welcome Slackers from across the Country! For those of you flying, we recommend flying into Denver International Airport (DIA), which is about an hour drive from Georgetown. Please note there is limited public transportation available to Georgetown, and Uber/Lyft does not generally service the area.

Where can I stay?Clear Creek County, Colorado, offers a variety of lodging options for our Slackers! 1. **Hotels and Motels:** - There are several hotels and motels in towns like Idaho Springs and Georgetown, offering comfortable accommodations for visitors. Our prefferred hotel in Georgetown is the Microtel Inn & Suites, but you can also find lodging at the Georgetown Mountain Inn, and at hotls nearby in Idaho Springs. 2. **Bed and Breakfasts (B&Bs):** - Clear Creek County has charming bed and breakfast options that provide a more personalized experience. Some B&Bs offer unique amenities and a cozy atmosphere. Check out places like Silver Queen Bed & Breakfast and Arrowhead Manor. 3. **Cabins and Vacation Rentals:** - For a more private and secluded experience, consider renting a cabin or vacation home. What do I need to bring for bib pickup?Please be prepared to show your ID and race confirmation email at packet pick up. If you are picking up a bib for someone else, please have them send your their race confirmation email as well.

Can I pick up another participants bib?Yes! Please just have them send your race confirmation email, and be prepared to show this at pick up.

Where should I park?All parking for participants will be at Loveland Ski Area. We are currently working on expanding our parking options for the 2024 race, and further information will be released soon. THERE ARE NO SHUTTLES FROM GEORGETOWN TO LOVELAND SKI AREA PRIOR TO THE RACE.

How do I get to the start line?Half-Marathon/Relay Player 1 participants parked at Loveland Ski Area Basin are able to walk directly to the start line. Half-Marathon/Relay Player 1 participants parked at Loveland Ski Area Valley are able to walk directly to the start line (1/2 mile) or take a shuttle. 4-Mile or Relay 2 & 3 Players will be shuttled to their respective start lines (THERE IS NO PARKING AT THE 4-MILE OR RELAY 2 & 3 START LINES) We are increasing parking and shuttles services for the 2024 races. Further information will be released soon on this.

Will there be a gear check?Clothing drop boxes will be at all start lines! It is cool at the start so feel free to bring a jacket, and we will bring it to the Finish Line for you! Please do not drop your clothes along the race course and expect to find them at the finish. You MUST drop your clothes at the START lines or they will be donated to our Clear Creek Victims Advocates.

Are there any course time limits?Nope! With a name like Slacker, we know this is a great event for those who want to try the half-marathon distance for the first time! There is no strict time limit on the course, and water stations stay open until the last racer crosses the finish line! (usually by 1:30 p.m.) Throughout the course, there are volunteers on bikes with cell phones, plus volunteers at the water stations with cell phones, so if you need ANYTHING—ask for help! Even if you need a ride down, we can help! At Slacker Races, we celebrate every participant, no matter their pace or experience level. Join us for a memorable event where the emphasis is on the journey, the experience, and the joy of accomplishing something incredible. Lace-up, step out of your comfort zone, and become a Slacker on June 24, 2023!

Will you have cups at your water/aid stations?Yes, BUT we are highly encouraging all walkers and runners alike to help us reduce waste at our events. Therefore, please bring your own water vessels as feasible or consider purchasing one of our branded collapsible water cups (more information on these coming shortly).

Do you allow participants to walk in the race?Yes! We have many participants who return year after year to walk the course! Can I wear headphones, phones, ipods, etc?Yes! Just please be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Do you allow dogs and/or strollers on the course?Yep! Dogs must be friendly, well behaved, and leashed AT ALL TIMES though. Please note as well, that dogs are NOT allowed on our school bus shuttles, but may be on our 15 passenger van shuttles. There are doggie pools at several of our water/aid stations, as well as access to the creek at several points along the course. Strollers are also allowed, and are able to be transported on our school bus shuttles.

Where can my family and friends watch?Exit 221 off I-70—Bakerville This is where the Forest Service trail joins the frontage road. Great photo spot! Exit 226 off I-70—Silver Plume Watch your runner coming down the Frontage Road into historic Silver Plume. Exit 228 off I-70– Georgetown In Georgetown, at the intersection of 11th and Argentine Streets -- at the water station!!

What can I expect at the Finish Line?The NEW FINISH LINE for 2024 will be located right next to our new post-race party location! Spectators will easily be able to cheer on their runners from City Park. Participants will have access to post race food, hydration stations, and be able to pick up their long sleeved tech shirt, medal, and swag bag upon crossing the line.
